To accelerate transfer of findings from the laboratory to clinical application; To fund research that shows high promise for translating basic biomedical knowledge to prevention or new treatments and, ultimately, to prolong and enhance life. A renewal of the grant may be funded for an additional 2 years if it includes an approved clinical trial and a fully justified research plan.
