Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP): Research Grants in Basic Biology - Letters of Intent

HFSP supports international, collaborations in fundamental Life sciences research with emphasis on innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to understanding complex mechanisms of living organisms. Preliminary results are not required.

Research Grants - Early Career- are for scientists in the initial period of their independent careers, to formulate innovative and promising research projects. Typically, “Early Career” team members will have completed one or two periods of postdoctoral training and be appointed to independent staff positions.

Program Grants are for teams of independent scientists (at all stages of career, participation of younger scientists is encouraged), to develop new lines of research through the collaboration.

Funding: Grants provide 3 years support. Awards are dependent upon team size and successful teams will receive up to $465K/year. (Overhead- 10%)

The principal applicant must be located in one of the member countries [Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus (EU part), the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, the Republic of Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the U.K. and the U.S.]. Co-investigators may be located in any country, with at least one in a country other than the PA. The number of team members should normally be 2 – 4.
