MATERA Call 2011 - Innovative R&D projects related to materials science and engineering

MATERA Call 2011 is now open. The goal of this call is to launch transnational, interdisciplinary innovative projects and to narrow the gap between basic materials research and industrial applications.

Background:
The ERA-NET scheme is an initiative of the European Commission aimed at providing support for the coordination and mutual opening up of national and regional R&D programs.  MATERA, an ERA-NET on materials, focuses on creating a durable cooperation platform for national and regional policy makers and managers with strategic activities in Materials Science and Engineering.

Topics to be addressed:
• Value-added materials (including engineering structural materials, multi-functional materials and materials with tailored properties)
• Bio-based materials (including biomaterials for human health improvement and biodegradable materials)

Eligibilities:
Project consortia must consist of a minimum of two partners from two different MATERA countries (see list below) if SME is included. Otherwise, a minimum of three partners from at least two MATERA countries/regions is required.
Universities and non-university research establishments in the two countries are invited to participate in the collaborative projects as subcontractors.

Belgium – Flanders, Belgium – Wallonia, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Spain – Madrid Region, Spain – Basque Region, Switzerland, Turkey, UK– Northern Ireland.
