ACQUEAU, a EUREKA Cluster initiative which aims to boost growth and innovation in the water sector, is announcing 2 new calls for proposals.
Background & Objective:
ACQUEAU is an industry driven EUREKA Cluster dedicated to water related technologies and innovation. It aims at promoting innovation and market driven solutions to develop new technologies in the European water sector. The ultimate aim of a EUREKA Cluster is to facilitate the generation of market driven, pan-European collaborative water research and technological development RTD projects for the benefit of the European Water Industry.

¨ Membrane Technologies
Objectives of the call
The main target is to develop low-energy membrane technologies for drinking water production, sewage treatment and water reuse, in order to:
· Preserve the environment and the quality and quantity of water resources;
· Favor water recycling and reuse;
· Exploit alternative water sources (saline, industrial and municipal wastewater).
Duration:
1 to 5 years (project can start in 2010 and should be done by 2015)

¨ Real-Time System Management
Objectives of the call
The main target is to get a better Real-time System Management of water resources, drinking water and sewer networks, and drinking water and sewage treatment plants, in order to improve the quality of the services by preventing risks and increasing security and safety, both in terms of quality and quantity, while decreasing operating and capital costs, and promoting low-energy and robust systems.
ACQUEAU would like to promote new solutions through three key topics:
· Sensors;
· Software for the optimized modelling and control of water resources, water and wastewater networks and treatment plants;
· ICT infrastructures and human-machine interfaces.
Duration:
1 to 5 years (2011-2014 or 2011-2016)

Eligibilities:
The consortium must comprise at least two industrial companies from two different participating countries.
Israeli universities and non-university research establishments may participate in the collaborative projects as subcontractors to the Israeli industry.
NOTES:
- In order to become a member of ACQUEAU, Large enterprise (>250) are required to pay a membership fee of 1,000 euros / year. Small and Medium Enterprise (<250 / ≤ € 50 million) are not required to pay the membership fee unless the project is funded (the cost of the membership can be included in the budget of the project).
