European Satellite Navigation Competition - Galileo Master Competition 2010

We would like to inform you about the European Satellite Navigation Competition- Galileo Master Competition 2010 which awards the best ideas for applications in satellite navigation.

Objective:
The competition welcomes any technological application in the field of satellite navigation.

The applicant can compete for 20 regional prizes and 8 Special Topic Prizes sponsored by industry and research partners.

Among the different prizes, the overall winner – the GALILEO Master – will be chosen from the regional winners and the special topic winners. The main prize will be a grant of EUR 20,000. Besides, across the global partner regions, prizes and start-up assistance total EUR 500,000.

Special Topic Prizes:
* European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) application idea
* Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) - business models, Core service area – land, marine, or emergency. The application should be based on dynamic earth observation data and make use of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and space- and ground-based communication infrastructures.
* European Space Agency (ESA) - systems that report flooding in real-time, track carbon footprints, and provide location-based information no matter what the user’s whereabouts are.
* Next Generation Navigation - SECURITY-CRITICAL APPLICATIONS, BIO ENGINEERING in NAVIGATION
* Navigation and location-based services for mobile devices - innovative location-based ideas that work with mobile phones and/or wireless handheld devices using satellite positioning technology.
* Safety and security in the logistics and transport sectors
* ESNC University Challenge - aims at reaching out to young researchers dealing with areas of potential applications, be it prospective automotive engineers, logistics providers, game and other mobile application developers, or health promoters. The evaluators will focus on creativity and market needs rather than technological perfection of the business idea.
* Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) Living Lab Prize - health, ageing and inclusion; energy efficiency and environment; Media
