Unsolicited Research Program

Proposals in all relevant wastewater and water quality areas are welcome. WERF currently has research under way in the following areas: Nutrient Removal; Strategic Asset Management; Pathogens and Human Health; Operations Optimization; Trace Organics, Stormwater; Biosolids, and Climate Change. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: conveyance systems; wastewater treatment; reuse; solids management; condition assessment and infrastructure management; energy efficiency; decentralized collection and treatment systems; risk assessment and communication; watershed management and water quality; and other emerging issues. Proposers must indicate the funding needed to complete the research and whether completion of the research is dependent upon other sources of funding (whether cash, in-kind, or other actual resources) in addition to the amount requested from WERF. Research awards will be in the form of contracts, not grants
