BIRAX: Regenerative Medicine Initiative, Britain-Israel collaboration - Preliminary Proposals

The 3rd BIRAX call for proposals will fund ground-breaking, basic and translational, UK-Israel research collaborations in a wide spectrum of approaches, including biological, chemical, material sciences, and engineering that:
1. Explores the use of stem cell technology and tissue engineering in the context of fundamental disease processes and / or;
2. Discovers new mechanisms that might be targeted to develop novel therapeutic applications of regenerative medicines and / or;
3. Advances understanding of stem cell biology, using lessons learnt from developing tissues and organs, or the mechanisms underlying cell fate and the principles of cellular pluripotency for the development of stem cell-based therapies and / or;
4. Advances cell and gene therapies.
Funding: £400K / 3 years.
In addition to the general call, specific proposals are requested that study the application of regenerative therapies and technology to:
-Cardiovascular disease
-Type 1 Diabetes
-Neurodegenerative conditions
-Arthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders
