The Psychological Health/Traumatic Brain Injury Research Program has these research objectives:

  •          Lifeskills training/competenceenhancement andresilience-buildingapproaches.
  •          Holistic and integrated approaches to physical and psychological well-being.
  •          Interventions and systems-level approaches that target and strengthen theimpact of context at different levels(e.g., evaluatingtherolethat policy, leadership, unit norms, ormilitarycultureplaysat different levels within themilitarystructure andcontext on theoutcomes ofprevention interventions and systems-level approaches).
  •          Research to boost efficacyofprevention interventions through optimization (e.g., multiphaseoptimizationstrategy[MOST], http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2062525/).
  •          Construction/dismantlingstudies and adaptivedesigns that systematicallyexaminethe impact ofprogramcomponents, alone and together, to determinemechanisms and critical elements ofprogram effectiveness.
  •          Evaluation ofthe efficacyofresilience, prevention, and/ormandatorytraining programs and strategies that areuntested but currentlybeingused in militaryhealth promotion and prevention programming.
  •          Optimizingdeliveryofevidence-based interventions with thegoal ofimproving learningoutcomes (e.g.,user-friendlyformats, optimization oftrainer characteristics, train-the-trainer, adjuncts or alternatives to traditional didactic and computer instruction).
