FRAXA Research Foundation: Postdoctoral Fellowships & Program Grants (LOI)

FRAXA aims to accelerate research aimed at finding a specific treatment for fragile X syndrome. Their goal is to bring practical treatment into current medical practice as quickly as possible; preference is given to research projects with practical application and those where the results are shared quickly.

* Postdoctoral Fellowship: investigators with a more basic approach than that for the Program Grant if the applicant proposes to work with a particular fragile X model s/he should demonstrate that this model system has already been established in-house. Funding is $45,000 per year for 2 years.

* Program Grant: intended for the most translationally relevant proposals of innovative pilot studies aimed at developing and characterizing new therapeutic approaches for the treatment and ultimate cure of fragile X syndrome. No limit on amount (but are ranked on relative value) or on time-frame (grants over one year require renewal).
