תיאור כללי:

Pediatric Epilepsies Award: Aim: novel research projects of relevance to pediatric epilepsies, including: (1) the cellular, molecular, and systems-level understanding of the underlying pathogenic mechanisms; (2) investigations of the impact, natural history, and epidemiology; and (3) novel treatments which may impact progression of the disease. Funding: up to $250,000 over 2 years.
CURE SUDEP Award: Goal: understanding and eliminating SUDEP. This program will award grants to researchers submitting innovative proposals that suggest new directions for SUDEP research. Priority will be given to translational research projects (bedside-to-bench and bench-to-bedside), the identification of human-specific biomarkers of SUDEP. Funding: up to $100,000 over 1 years.
CURE Challenge Award: Successful applicants should propose research in at least one of the following priority areas: (1) the basic mechanisms of epileptogenesis; (2) the multifaceted causes of epilepsy; (3) the pediatric epilepsy syndromes; (4) new animal models of epilepsy. Funding: up to $250,000 over 3 years.
Prevention of Acquired Epilepsies Award: Aim: novel research projects of relevance to the prevention and treatment of acquired (post-injury) epilepsies including the cellular, molecular, and systems-level understanding of the underlying pathogenic mechanisms; specific approaches to interdict the development of acquired epilepsy; animal models of acquired epilepsy; and investigations of the impact, natural history, and epidemiology of acquired epilepsy. Funding: up to $250,000 over 3 years
For all awards: CURE specifically encourages studies that may not be currently fundable by other agencies because of their preliminary or unconventional nature. Priority will be given to innovative projects that address the severe, intractable pediatric epilepsies as well as collaborative projects, especially those that are inclusive of investigators and expertise from fields outside of epilepsy.
