USAID: Development Innovation Accelerator BAA for Fighting Ebola – A Grand Challenge for Development – First Round

This BAA funds co-creations, co-designs, co-investments, and collaborations in the development, testing, and scaling of practical and cost-effective innovations that can help healthcare workers on the front lines provide better care and stop the spread of Ebola. The projects address: 1) strengthen healthcare capacities (protective equipment, care setting, and health care worker tools); and 2) care-seeking (enable capacity to receive and respond to timely, accurate, and actionable information regarding prevention and treatment). Capabilities interested in are the ability to: rapidly prototype and produce manufacture-ready products, to deploy solutions in contexts worldwide, to produce or improve any existing technologies, and the capacity and willingness to partner to test identified solutions. USAID is looking for innovations that are low-cost and have the ability to be scaled rapidly, a strong likelihood of achieving substantial impact, solutions that can be employed: near-term (2-3 months), longer term (within year), and improve response to current and future epidemics. Awards are $100,000 to $1-million. Second round deadline 1/12.
