EFSD and Astra Zeneca: Multiple opportunities – Type 2 Diabetes

Cellular Plasticity Underlying the Pathophysiology of Type 2 Diabetes- Aim: to generate a more complete understanding of cellular plasticity in type 2 diabetes and the potential for its reversibility may lead to the development of a novel therapy. Particularly welcome are projects studying the effect of GLP-1 or DPP4 inhibition on cellular plasticity and recovery of beta cell function. Funding: up to Euro 100,000.

Macrovascular Complications of Diabetes- Aim: Advancing current knowledge and addressing the need to better understand the effects of antidiabetic medications (i.e. GLP-1 RA, DPPlV inhibitors, SGLT2 inhibitors) on the cardiovascular system and their actions on cardiovascular disease in type 2 diabetes. Funding: up to Euro 300,000 for up to 3 yrs.
