United States Institute of Peace: Middle East and North Africa Grant

Projects will focus on facilitation of democratic transitions, strengthening the rule of law, and the improvement of relations between minority, ethnic, and religious groups.
Specific areas of priority include:
- Rule of law, governance and transitional justice
- Post-conflict reconciliation and conflict resolution
- Inter-communal dialogue, projects promoting the inclusion of and better relations with minorities and ethnic groups.
- The role of youth in conflict prevention and conflict resolution
- The role of civil society organizations in building consensus on national reconciliation processes
- Gender and peacebuilding
- Media and science in peacebuilding and conflict resolution
- Economic drivers of conflict and/or the economic impact of conflict
Awards range from $75,000 to $150,000. Some 20% of applications are are funded.
