- Assessment of Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment for projects that address critical decisions that patients, their caregivers and clinicians face with too little information. Funding: $2 million for 3 years
- Improving Healthcare Systems for projects that address critical decisions that face health care systems, the patients and caregivers who rely on them, and the clinicians who work within them. Funding: $5 million for large studies over 5 years, $1.5 million for small studies over 3 years.
- Communication and Dissemination for projects that address critical elements in the communication and dissemination process among patients, their caregivers and clinicians. Funding: $1.5 million for 3 years.
- Addressing Disparities – for projects that will inform the choice of strategies to eliminate disparities. Funding: $1.5 million for 3 years.
- Improving Methods for Conducting Patient-Centered Outcomes Research, to address gaps in methodological research relevant to conducting patient-centered outcomes research. Funding: $1 million for 3 years.
* Foreign organizations may apply as long as there is demonstrable benefit to the US healthcare system, and US efforts in the area of patient-centered research can be clearly shown.
