תיאור כללי:

- Career Catalyst Research Grants (CCR): intended to foster promising breast cancer researchers or clinician-scientists who are in the early stages of their faculty careers (must not have held any faculty appointment, including non-tenure and tenure track appointments combined, for more than a total of 6 years at the time of full application (5.12.13)). The grants support up to 3 years of “protected time” for research, or clinical research career development under the guidance of a mentor committee by funding hypothesis-driven research projects that have significant potential to advance our understanding of breast cancer, lead to reductions in breast cancer incidence and/or mortality, and move us toward the goal of a world without breast cancer. Funding: $150,000/year X 3 years.
- - CCR Basic and Translational Research: appropriate for both basic (i.e. PhD) or clinical (i.e. MD) fellows proposing research projects that are laboratory- or field- based and do not meet Komen’s definition of clinical research. A clinical trial or study in conjunction with a clinician is acceptable as a part of the proposed laboratory research focus.
- - CCR Clinical Research Grants: provide support to clinician-scientists for hypothesis-driven clinical research - patient-oriented research for which an investigator directly interacts with human subjects/patients, in conjunction with laboratory-based research, as appropriate. This includes studies such as therapeutic interventions or clinical trials.
- Postdoctoral Fellowship Grants (PDF): seek to attract and support promising scientists embarking on careers dedicated to breast cancer research who have no more than 3 years post-completion of their most recent clinical fellowship, 5 years post-completion of their most recent residency (for physicians), or 5 years post-completion of their most recent PhD, by providing funding to outstanding postdoctoral/postgraduate fellows under the guidance of a mentor. PDF Grants provide support for research projects that have significant potential to advance our understanding of breast cancer, lead to reductions in breast cancer incidence and/or mortality, and move us toward the goal of a world without breast cancer. Funding: $60,000/year X 2-3 years.
- - PDF Basic and Translational: appropriate for both basic (i.e. PhD) or clinical (i.e. MD) fellows proposing research projects that are laboratory- or field- based and do not meet Komen's definition of clinical research. A clinical trial or study in conjunction with a clinician is acceptable as a part of the proposed laboratory research focus.
- - PDF Clinical Research: appropriate for clinical (i.e. MD) fellows proposing clinical, patient-oriented research projects that involve direct interactions with human subjects/patients. This includes studies such as therapeutic interventions or clinical trials.
- Graduate Training in Disparities Research: intended to establish and/or to sustain a training program for a minimum of 3 graduate students who are seeking careers dedicated to understanding and eliminating disparities in breast cancer outcomes across population groups. Funding: $135,000/year X 3 years.
