DOD-CDMRP: Breast Cancer Research Program

- competitive pre-application (except for Breakthrough Award Levels 1-2)
- Innovator Award: Supports visionary individuals who have demonstrated creativity, innovative work, and leadership in any field. Provides opportunity to pursue novel, visionary, high-risk ideas that will accelerate progress toward ending breast cancer. PIs must include breast cancer advocates on their research team. Funding: $5M / 5 years.
- Breakthrough Award Levels 1-2: Investigators at all academic levels (PostDocs are eligible and encouraged to apply, with additional applications components). Supports promising research that has the potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer. Potential impact of the research may be near-term or long-term, but it must be significant and go beyond incremental advancement. Partnering PI Option allows 2 PIs to collaborate. Consumer advocate involvement is encouraged, but not required. Letter of Intent is required (non-competitive). Clinical trials are NOT allowed. Funding is for 3 years: Level 1- $350K; Level 2- $700K.
- Breakthrough Award Levels 3-4: Like level 1-2 except these: Only independent investigators are eligible (no PostDocs); Applicants ARE required to include breast cancer advocates on their research team. A (competitive) pre-proposal is required. Clinical trials ARE allowed. Funding is for 5 years: Level 3- $2.5M; Level 4- $10M.
