EFSD and Boehringer Ingelhiem: European Diabetes Research Programmes

1. Regulation of secretion and/or function of pancreatic hormones. In particular, proposals dealing with the following are especially but not exclusively welcome: investigation of the role, function and mechanism of non-beta cells; crosstalk between various hormones and/or cell types of the endocrine pancreas. Only basic research projects will be considered for this Programme. Funding: €100,000 over 2 years.
2. Mechanisms relating renal dysfunction to cardiovascular disease in type 2 diabetes. In particular, proposals dealing with the following are especially, but not exclusively, welcome: projects investigating novel biomarkers or the translation of experimental hypotheses and clinical results. Only clinical / translational research projects will be considered for this Programme. Funding: €400,000 over 3 years.
