USAID: Saving Lives at Birth - A Grand Challenge for Development (Round IV) - Request for Applications

They seek groundbreaking prevention and treatment approaches for pregnant women and newborns in poor, hard-to-reach communities around the time of delivery. They are looking for interventions that: increase access to primary health care for women and newborns by at least 50%; substantially improve the quality of care as measured by health outcomes; and lead to improved and sustained healthy behavior. Two types pf grants:
Seed grants: to support the development and validation of ideas capable of impacting health outcomes for pregnant women and their newborns in low-resource settings. Up to $250,000.
Transition grants: Scientific and technological advances that prevent, detect, or treat maternal and newborn problems prior to conception, during the antenatal period, at the time of birth and in the early postnatal period in the home, community or in peripheral health facilities. Up to $2 million.
