The French Muscular Dystrophy Association (AFM-Téléthon): Research in Neuromuscular Diseases

This International Call for Proposals aims to support the following research:
1. Fundamental research and physiopathology of diseases of the neuromuscular system
2. Development of therapeutic approaches for rare diseases- Gene and/or cell therapy; Strategies for modifying gene expression both at the gene and RNA level; Pharmacotherapies; Translational research as tools for evaluation of treatments.
3. Clinical and care management- pneumology, cardiology, orthopedics, nutrition, urology, stomatology and pain, as well as in the social and psychological domains.
Special attention will be given to projects focusing on Biomarkers of neuromuscular diseases.
Trampoline grants: intended to support investigators early in their professional career and/or early stage innovative projects. Max of €50,000 over 1 year.
Research projects for one year, renewable for a 2nd year, and exceptionally for a 3rd year.
Post-doctoral fellowships for 1 year, renewable for a 2nd year.
PhD fellowships for 1 year, renewable for a 2nd and 3rd year. Not eligible: PhD students in a foreign laboratory (The second session in March 2014 is not open for PhD students).
Deadlines for applications:
4.10.13 (first session) - results expected end-February 2014
3.3.14 (second session) - results expected Mid-July 2014
3.4.14 PhD session - results expected in July 2014
