BIRAC - Indian Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (with Gates Foundation): Achieving Healthy Growth through Agriculture and Nutrition- LOI

Grants will be granted to innovators who are Indian entities, but we encourage partnerships with researchers in other countries, especially where the opportunity exists to build on established collaborations. The research agenda will support approaches spanning multiple fields of innovation to reduce the high incidence of low birth weight; early stunting and wasting in Indian children less than 2 years of age, and prevent under nutrition in women of reproductive age and in children from 0-2 years of age. To achieve this desired impact, we seek proposals in the fields of Nutrition, Agricultural and Social Innovations which target improved health, behavioral changes or services delivery mechanism.
Seed grants: Funded at up to $250,000 per project, preliminary data not required, an opportunity to test particularly bold ideas.
Transition‐to‐scale grants: Funded at up to $1M- $2M per project, requires preliminary data and are meant to provide an opportunity to develop, refine, and rigorously test approaches that have previously shown promise in controlled or limited settings.
