Technology Academy Finland: Millennium Technology Prize

The prize is awarded for groundbreaking technological innovations that enhance the quality of people's lives in a sustainable manner. The innovations should have been applied in practice and are delivering extensive change now and in the future. The innovations should stimulate further cutting edge research and development in science and technology. There are two important criteria in the assessment process: firstly, an innovatoin must have a beneficial influence on the largest possible number of people while promoting sustainable development. Secondly, as the Prize is designed to encourage further cutting edge research and development, it is not intended as a reward for lifetime achievement. Funding: 1,000,000 Euros.
