DOD-CDMRP: Prostate Cancer Research Program – Pre-applications

-Biomarker Development Award: supports high-impact research aimed at validation or qualification of biomarkers for rapid transfer to clinical practice for prostate cancer. Biomarkers may be prognostic, predictive, or pharmocodynamic. Emphasis is on biomarkers that can be assessed through noninvasive or minimally invasive methods. Application should address tumor heterogeneity and possible sampling artifacts. Partnering PI option is available. Funding: up to $2.25M in direct costs ove3r 3 years (plus indirect costs).

-Laboratory – Clinical Transition Award: supports product-driven preclinical studies of promising novel lead agents or medical devices that have the potential to revolutionize prostate cancer clinical care. Collaboration with commercial partners is highly encouraged. Funding: up to $1.5M for direct costs (plus indirect costs).

-Transformative Impact Award: encourages prostate cancer research efforts with near-term, transformative impact on the clinical management of prostate cancer. The scope of the research effort must include translational studies, clinical research, and/or clinical trials. Research efforts based on team science are expected. Partnering PI option available. Funding: up to $5.0M in direct costs over 3 years (plus indirect costs).

-Idea Development Award: supports new ideas that represent innovative, high-risk/high-gain approaches to prostate cancer research, and have the potential to make an important contribution to eliminating death from prostate cancer and enhancing the well-being of men experiencing the impact of the disease. Innovation and impact are the most important review criteria. New Investigator Optiion is available. Funding: up to $375K in direct costs over 3 years (plus indirect costs). For the New Investigator Option funding is up to $225K in direct costs over 3 years (plus indirect costs).

-Synergistic Idea Development Award: encourages new or existing partnerships between 2 or 3 independent investigators to address a central innovative question or problem in prostate cancer that may include high-risk, provided there is a potential for significant impact. PI's must demonstrate within the application the synergistic components that will significantly advance the project. Funding: up to $750K in direct costs over 3 years (plus indirect costs).
