Spencer Foundation: Education Small Grants

The Foundation's research grants are organized under four areas of inquiry:

- The Relation Between Education and Social Opportunity

- Organizational Learning in Schools, School Systems, and Higher Education Systems

- Teaching, Learning, and Instructional Resources

- Purposes and Values of Education

The Foundation also accepts proposals that do not fit one of the above four areas, through the "Field-Initiated Proposal program" (www.spencer.org/content.cfm/field-initiated-proposals).

The Foundation’s Strategic Initiatives reflect its commitment to specific, measureable investigations that range from five to ten years.

- The New Civics Initiative

- Data Use and Educational Improvement

- Philosophy in Educational Policy and Practice

Funding: up to $40,000 (applications accepted by 11.2, 14.5, 23.7 and 15.10)
