-Material Science: Basic Material Science Research, Structural Materials, Functional Materials, Power and Energy, Manufacturing Science and Technology.

-Biology: Basic Biology Research.

-Neuroscience: Basic Neuroscience Research, Operational Neuroscience, Behavioral Neuroscience.

-Mathematics: Basic Mathematics Research.

-Testing and Demonstration: modeling and demonstrator technologies and platforms to perform testing and evaluation activities either physically (hardware) and/or virtually (software), for basic science technologies in various areas.

Funding depends on the quality of the proposals received and the availability of funds - multiple awards are expected.
