MOST: Knowledge Centers (MERKAZEY YEDA) in "Non-Ionizing Radiation and its impact on the Public Health"

The Center will deal with collection of data on the Health impacts of Non-Ionizing Radiation on the population in general and on specific groups of interest; processing the data and its dissemination to the public and to government authorities. The Center will further serve as a knowledge pool for the research community in academy and industry. In a later stage the Center will establish a research infrastructure and perform research projects on the subject. Accordingly the Center will be comprised of two units:
1. An information unit (will be established in the first stage) - whose functions will be collection and processing of data on the subject and structured dissemination for the relevant users in the general public an government authorities (see the CFP for a detailed description).
2. A unit for Basic and Epidemiologic Research and Risk Assessment (to be established after the information unit) - This unit will assist other entities with physical and engineering aspects of exposure to Non-Ionizing Radiation and its health risks. The unit will also deal with epidemiologic research on the subject. In the first stage the Ministry will fund the Information Unit alone, while the Research Unit will be established later by the grantee institution(s). Funding: up to 3 million NIS for 3 years with required matching funds in amount of 1/3 of the Ministry support. Interested researchers should consult with the Research Authority in advance to check the availability of matching funds.
