Flight Attendant Medical Research Institute (FAMRI): Young Clinical Scientist Awards Programs - LOI

- YCSA faculty award for individuals who are current faculty members or who expect to be before July 01, 2013. The program is limited to the development of young researchers in the field of smoking-related disorders. This year the topics will be limited to the effects of secondhand tobacco smoke exposure on chronic sinusitis, cilia abnormalities, chronic bronchitis,
COPD, emphysema, asthmatic/allergy, and chronic autoimmune diseases. This research must be related to and have direct
application to the prevention, early detection, treatment, and cure of respiratory diseases caused by tobacco smoke exposure. FAMRI plans to provide awards of up to $100K/year for direct costs plus no more than 8.5% for indirect costs, subject to the availability of funds. Awards for junior faculty are three
years and renewable for up to a total of five years.
- YCSA fellow award for individuals who are currently fellows and who do not expect to become faculty until after July 01, 2013. The program is limited to the development of young researchers in the field of smoking-related disorders. This year the topics will be limited to the effects of secondhand tobacco smoke exposure on chronic sinusitis, cilia abnormalities, chronic bronchitis, COPD, emphysema, asthmatic/allergy, and chronic autoimmune diseases. This research must be related to and have direct application to the prevention, early detection, treatment, and cure of respiratory diseases caused by tobacco smoke exposure. FAMRI plans to provide support up to two years at the fellowship level at $75K/year plus indirect cost of 8.5%, subject to the availability of funds;Awards for fellowships are typically two years, but can be renewed and carried into a tenure-track faculty position for an additional three years.
