The alpha-synuclein protein is a major component of Lewy bodies, a cardinal neuropathological feature of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Mutations in the alpha-synuclein gene were some of the first linked to PD and provide further evidence for its causal role. These strong pathological and genetic links make alpha-synuclein a key priority within the therapeutic development field. Funding: up to 2 years in duration and $200K. |
