* Young Investigator Grant Program: This program receives the largest portion of NIPI funding, and provides researchers newly appointed to faculty positions with 2 years of non-salary financial support - $25,000/year (support by NIPI is up to $15,000/year, with mandatory matching funds from the host Institution of another $10,000/year.
* Charles E. Smith Expanded Grants in Memory, Clinical, and Basic Research: These grants sponsor in-depth and broad-scaled research projects of more veteran researchers who have attained positions up to associate professor. Grants last up to 3 years ($50,000/year), and provide support to conduct innovative projects on memory, basic, and clinical areas of psychobiology.
