* Innovative Grant: “seed” funding for highly innovative research. Preliminary data is not required. Funding: $110,000 for one year;
* Career Development Award: for individuals in a relatively early stage of their career. Ordinarily, their 1st degree (MD, PhD...) will have been between 3-7 years before the award. Funding: $150,000/year for 5 years;
* Early-Career, Patient-Oriented Diabetes Research Award: The successful candidate will have an MD or MD-PhD, hold an appointment or joint appointment in a subspecialty of clinical medicine, and conduct human clinical research. Funding: $150,000/year for 5 years.
