Health Effects Institute: Health Outcomes Research – Assessing the Health Outcomes of Air Quality

Letter of intent. RFA 11-1 solicits applications for studies designed to assess the health effects of actions to improve air quality and to develop methods required for, and specifically suited to, conducting such research. Preference will be given to (1) studies that evaluate regulatory and other actions at the national or regional level implemented over multiple years; (2) studies that evaluate complex sets of actions targeted at improving air quality in large urban areas and major ports with well documented air quality problems and programs to address them; and (3) studies that develop methods to support such health outcomes research. HEI expects to fund up to six proposals and devote approximately $2.5M to this research over 3 years.
