European Chemical Industry Council (cefic): The Long-range Research Initiative (LRI)

The Cefic-LRI program aims to support research addressing key issues related to the health and environmental impacts of chemicals in the industry.

Accepting grant applications for research in the following areas: 

• How plastic fabrication impacts the breakdown of plastics into micro and nanoplastics?
• How microplastics and nanoplastics get absorbed through the skin?
• How polymers absorb and release in different environments?
• Identifying the co-exposure of substances at the watershed level?

LRI ECO63: Mechanistic understanding of sorption/desorption of polymer in environmental media

Funding: €200,000 - 240,000 for 2 years

LRI ECO66: Next generation risk assessment methods supporting the identification of environmental co-exposures of potential concern

Funding: €300,000 – 350,000 for 24 months

LRI ECO67: Understanding the relationship between plastic-based fabricated article composition, article degradation processes, and the generation of microplastics under relevant environmental conditions

Funding: €400,000 for 2 years.
