Italian-Israeli research teams are hereby invited to submit joint research proposals in the following areas:
1. Marine Research and Oceanography
2. Environment and Health: preference will be given to proposals more directly linked to human well being and the environment in which mankind lives and operates.
Environment - preference will be given to proposals dealing with the issues of:
• alternative energies and energy- saving methods,
• to the frontiers of photovoltaic technologies,
• related to climate change and its impact on the cycle of the water,
• reuse of materials
• use of information and communication technologies (green ICT, smart grids, etc..), reclamation of land, mud and contaminated sediments,
• water quality, treatment and management of waste waters,
• teleprocessing and satellite monitoring,
• new technologies or materials for measurements of hyper- precision, and forecasting of air quality in urban areas and of the marine pollution level.
Health - preference will be given to proposals:
• food safety
• sustainable and healthy agriculture via the implementation of advanced technologies for the monitoring of environmental contaminants of particular danger (biosensors) and applications of organisms and natural products in low-input agro-ecosystems,
• epidemiological studies,
• epigenomics and nutrigenomics for the characterization of the mechanisms that are regulating the genetic expression and the interaction nutrients-genes-biological processes both in physiological and pathological conditions (stem cells and differentiation, cancer and rare diseases, inflammation and obesity).
• studies that develop knowledge on the mechanisms at the basis of the neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer, Parkinson, etc..) and of the diseases related to aging.
Funding: 40,000 Euro for each side over the whole 2 years period. The program intends to fund 10 projects.
